Clay Section

image Whether you are a seasoned clay buster or just looking to start an exciting new hobby, our clay ground has everything you are looking for.

Located on Turf Nest Farm our regular shoot days provide DTL, English Skeet and a 50 bird English Sporting shoot. Add to this the occasional 2 or 4-man flush and Compak layouts and you can be sure that our clay shoots boast a varied shooting program.

Our shoot calendar provides regular member's competitions with fortnightly scores counting towards overall winners in each discipline. With an overall champion at the end of each year, members can be assured of friendly competition throughout the shooting year.

Guests are most welcome to shoot the competitions alongside us but as the saying goes "…you gotta be in it to win it…". For the novice shooters our instructors will offer all the tuition needed to get you started. With no charge for tuition or the use of our equipment all you pay for is the ammunition and the clay pigeon targets. This principle is at the heart of the Bolton Gun Club philosophy – the promotion of shooting sports for future generations sharing knowledge and experience with others.

New to Clay Pigeon Shooting

image Shooting is an exciting and absorbing activity and a visit to Bolton Gun Club: clay shoot gives you the opportunity to try clay pigeon shooting.

As a club, part of our role is to introduce people to the sport and give them the opportunity to try this very challenging and rewarding sport.

Whether you are a 'first timer' or you have already had a certain amount of experience, our coaches can help you on your way.

Great Britain has an excellent track record of international shooting success, whether at an Olympic, Commonwealth or European level. But the best thing about shooting is that it is inclusive sport - and a great leveller! Across the country, individuals from all walks of life enjoy a safe and exciting hobby that can be extremely rewarding.

Shooting is also one of the few sports that offers a genuine opportunity for sportsmen and women to compete on an equal footing; add juniors into the equation and clay shooting becomes a true family challenge at the weekend.
